Pray for Paul J. Stover, Jr., Pastor of the Christiansburg Church, for Todd A. Reed, Pastor of the Poages Mill Church and for Glenn D. Stevens, Pastor of the Saunders Grove Church; all of whom began their new pastorates on January 1, 2019.    Let us give glory to God for the manifold gifts of the Spirit bestowed upon Christ’s church.

January 13, 2019 -

Pray for Frank Roderick “ROD” Quinn, Pastor of the Blue Ridge Church on the county line of Bedford and Botetourt Counties, VA, whose ordination to the Gospel Ministry is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, January 27, 2019.  Let us pray that we will support, encourage and pray for those who undertake set-apart ministerial service.          

January 20, 2019 -

Pray for the Nominating and Personnel Committee of District Conference as they meet on Saturday, January 26, 2019 to pursue the calling process for district leadership.   Let us pray for the guidance and aid of the Holy Spirit in discerning those called to leadership.

January 27, 2019 -

Pray for Tabitha H. Rudy, who is scheduled to be installed as pastor of the Smith Mountain Lake Community Church in Franklin County, Virginia today. Let us pray that God would enable us to minister creatively in every place and situation.

February 3, 2019 -

Pray for Lukas Kuhn, a 19-year old man from Brackenheim, Germany, who is undertaking a year’s service as a Brethren Volunteer Service (BVS) Worker for Congregations In Action at Highland Park Elementary School in Roanoke, Virginia.  Let us listen to hear God’s voice in all of our life lessons.

February 10, 2019 -

Pray for the Virlina District Board, meeting at the Oak Grove Church in Roanoke, Virginia for its winter meeting on February 16, 2019.   Let us pray that the Spirit of God will grant discernment, guide every decision and empower every undertaking.

February 17, 2019 -

Pray for Tyler J. Goss, a member of the West Richmond Church, Jordan Luther, a member of the Collinsville Church and Adam C. Stultz, Associate Pastor of the Summerdean Church, as they engage in ministerial formation as seminary students.   Let us invest our lives in activities that incarnate the highest ideals of our faith.

February 24, 2019 -

Pray for the Virlina District Pastors and Spouses Retreat, to be held at the Smith Mountain Lake 4-H Center on March 1-2, 2019.    Let us pray that our ministers and their families will be refreshed for the work of Christ and the church! 

March 3, 2019 -

Pray for the Mission and Ministry Board of the Church of the Brethren as it meets in Elgin, Illinois on March 9-11, 2019.  Let us prayerfully uphold those who serve with and for us.

March 10, 2019 -

Pray for FaithQuest: A Spiritual Retreat for Youth in grades 10-12, to be held at Camp Bethel on March 15-17, 2019.  Let us ask God to nurture the spiritual depth and stamina of our young people.

March 17, 2019 -

Pray for the participants and leadership of Pilgrimage XXIII: A FaithQuest for Adults, a spiritual development retreat of the Virlina District, to be held on March 22-24, 2019.  Let us pray that those who participate gain a deeper spirituality and greater commitment.

March 24, 2019 -

Pray for Randi Rowan, Program Assistant for Discipleship Ministries of the Church of the Brethren at Elgin, Illinois, as she works to assist and support in the transformation of our congregations and denomination.   Let us give thanks to God for the commitment of those who serve the ministry and mission of the church.

March 31, 2019 -

Pray for the Red Hill Church of the Brethren in Roanoke County, VA, as they celebrate their seventy-fifth anniversary of becoming a congregation this year and as they recover from damage sustained in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael. Let us give thanks to God for the vision of those who saw the possibilities in their day, for the faithfulness to respond during the intervening years, and for the ongoing call to mission and ministry that is before us.
