2015 VIRLINA DISTRICT CONFERENCE – NOVEMBER 13-14

“You are the light of the world ... Let your light shine!” is the theme of the 2015 Virlina District Conference. The scripture reference is from Matthew 5:14-16.  The conference dates are November 13 and 14, and conference will he held at the Grandin Court Baptist (2660 Brambleton, Avenue, SW, Roanoke, VA).  The conference officers are Dava C. Hensley - moderator, J. W. Rhoades - moderator-elect and Charlene Lester - clerk.   

 

The general schedule is as follows...

FRIDAY: NOVEMBER 13

 - Hymn Singing and Worship 7:00 p.m.

 - Preacher: Mary Jo Flory-Steury, Associate General Secretary for the Church of the Brethren

SATURDAY: NOVEMBER 14

 - Hymn Singing and Worship 8:15 a.m. - 9:10 a.m.

 - Preacher: Andy Murray, 2016 Annual Conference Moderator

 - Business Sessions: 9:10 a.m. - 12:00 noon and 1:20 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

MINISTERS AND SPOUSES DINNER – NOVEMBER 13

The annual Ministers and Spouses Dinner will be held on Friday, November 13, at the Oak Grove Church of the Brethren (2138 McVitty Road, SW, Roanoke, VA).  Registration will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by the meal at 5:00 p.m., and the program. 

 

DISTRICT CONFERENCE YOUTH ACTIVITIES – NOVEMBER 13-14

Everyone is invited to Friday night worship at 7:00 P.M. at Grandin Court Baptist Church.  On Friday evening, the senior highs will have an overnight retreat at Central Church of the Brethren, downtown Roanoke. Registration will be from 8:45 - 9:15 p.m. A young adult from Brethren Volunteer Service will lead our retreat.  In the morning, we will join other senior high youth and the junior highs at 8:00 AM at District Conference.  We will carpool from there and have a work project at Camp Bethel!  Wear shoes and clothes that could get dirty or paint splattered! We will eat lunch at Camp Bethel and enjoy time on the grounds before concluding and heading back to District Conference.  Adult leaders will be asked to help with transportation. Youth who drive or who are passengers, must have permission from parents to take cars to Camp Bethel.    Cost is $5.00 per participant.
